Fort George

Saw the RFA Fort George berthed near Ocean Terminal in Leith today.

A small tender was being hauled along the side carrying a crewman with a roller brush. Looked like he was painting over a scrape mark perhaps 200 metres long on the port side.

At the front where the bow started to turn into the side was a big dent. Well above the waterline, presumably no threat to the ship.

But it looked very like the skipper had navigated this huge ship into a harbour wall or similar obstacle. Wonder if we the taxpayers will ever find out whether it was just a genuine mistake...
