Apocalypse prediction
I predict that Harold Camping will be wrong for the third time when the world does not end on the 21st October 2011.
I also predict that the !rsehole behind http://www.the-end.com/ will be wrong and all purchasers of his books will be disappointed.
Why does this matter? Well it does to those misguided folk who've given up jobs, homes etc in line with these purely invented dates.
Most intelligent educated people don't believe the Christian Bible, the Jewish Torah nor the Koran or any other ~ 2000 year old book translated through hundreds of years and tens of languages are literally true. Many now don't believe in an omnipresent all-powerful being running the whole universe.
Instead we are to all intents and purposes alone on planet Earth, quite possibly the only intelligent life within many hundreds of nearby solar systems.
We face some apocalypses of our own making, and some catastrophes from the sky or our own home planet.
Regardless of whether you believe in the bearded sky fairy, or a cold heartless universe, don't you agree we should ask Harold Camping and all other snake-oil merchants who claim to have a special insight into their god's plan to cease and desist. It's about time these ill-informed religious zealots or con-artists - doesn't particularly matter which is true - stopped selling books and collecting donations from a continual stream of exploited vulnerable people.
So that's it. When we reach the end of 2012, past all the dates predicted so far, any religious enthusiast or con-man who projects another "definitely this time" date for the end of the world is just to be laughed at, OK?
